Rob at Bullit Custom Cycles brought this ’78 Honda CB550 custom to the 2016 Freedom Machine Show. It was done up for a Bullit customer who wanted it light, fast, and loud!
The bike is minimalist starting with a de-tabbed, chopped rear section powder coated frame.
Sticky Avon rubber wrap the stock wheels and the forks get new re-chromed tubes.
The CB 550 engine is built with a CB650 cam, CB650 carbs, no baffle custom shorty turnout exhaust pipes and Dyna ignition.
A lightweight Ballistic battery is used and the regulator/rectifier was converted to a modern solid state unit.
A billet aluminium top triple and DIY billet rearsets were installed with only a speedo and oil psi use for gauges.
The stock tank was painted a semi gloss black with the # 78 ghosted in the tank sides. The seat is just big enough to cover the custom box that hides all the eclectics.
