The proportions of the XS front hoop are very different then what Jeff is used to on his Brit bikes. The rear tube of the front hoop on a Brit is far back behind the motor, whereas the XS is right behind motor. This makes it a bit harder to get a tank the to sit how we want in relation to the motor.
Jeff cleaned the tubes and gussets off the neck so he could remount it on the fork. We want to reuse the stock neck to save the VIN number so I can insure it for less than a million dollars through the Dr. Evil Insurance Company of Walla Walla, Washington. I don’t know why I stick with them. Maybe I’ll try Progressive this time.
Then Jeff hung the front end out in the breeze to “see where I’m going here,” and tried loosely setting up the the tanks and seat. Jeff wrote that, I am in love with the Fab Kevin hinge. I am not in love with the tanks yet. They need a good whacking.”
I wonder if Jeff was listening to the Beatles’ White Album when he wrote that last sentence.
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.
Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.
In their styes with all their backing
They don’t care what goes on around
In their eyes there’s something lacking
What they need’s a **** good whacking.
Everywhere there’s lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.
