royal enfield cafe racer kit

i’ve been making connections with builders and parts manufacturers from india lately and my latest find is a $750 (33,750 rupees) cafe kit you can bolt on to your royal enfield bullet.

the manufacturer of these parts is a pilot named joshua crasto and he calls the kit the “road runner.” he claims that with these parts you’ll shave off 88lbs (40kg). that’s over 20% off a bike that comes stock weighing 370lbs (168kg) or less, depending on the model.

that kind of weight reduction is achieved by making the parts from sturdy grp (glass fiber-reinforced plastic), which also keeps manufacturing costs low.

the clubman style handlebars are also a bit different form the standard clubman bars. his bars are fully adjustable so you can set them to your liking in terms of height. if you decide to convert the motorcycle back to it’s stock form, all you have to do is loosen a few bolts and you’ll have a stock looking handlebar.

the front fender is made in abs plastic and is a direct bolt on.

other bits that are seen in these photos are extras, such as the racing plates and the goldie replica exhaust.

he started out with the tank and seat. the tank from his kit comes with a screw on type of billet cap along with the standard petrol tap. an efi model for the classic 500 is in the making and it should be available for sale in mid-january. the seat/rear fender is a one piece grp unit that comes with a foam and leather covered seat.

another weight-reducing step was to lose the big cast iron footpegs. joshua provides foldable aluminum rearsets to take their place. they work on both the right side and left side shifter models.

again, there is no welding or metal fabrication needed to get this kit on your bullet. it’s a simple bolt-on process that loses weight, adds performance, and costs less than any cafe kit i’ve come across.

according to joshua, his kit was “conceptualized to create an awareness in the almost non-existent motorcycle mod scene here in india. we’ve got a few guys who are doing over the top occ kind of work which is unaffordable to the common man, so i decided that something low-cost, stylish yet very personalized was what was needed in the market.”

that’s the bikerMetric ethic and why i approve of his kit with a stinky beer fart and a wide smile.

joshua does not have a website, but keeps a nice blog called bugged shutter. you may contact him at joshuacrasto at gmail.com if you’re interested in his killer bullet cafe kit and as always, please tell him you found his stuff on bikerMetric.
