a few months ago i discovered a nice little royal enfield bobber by an indian shop called rajputana custom motorcycles.
i’ve been blessed to trade a few emails with the builder, mister vijay singh. he was born in a motorbike family and the first bike he rode was a bsa falcon, aka the bsa bond….
i’m sorry. i cannot wipe the tears from my eyes fast enough to continue. view purty pics while i compose myself.
a full meal makes a slow mongoose.
if you don’t know the end, here you go:
wait…. missed a part:
now for kickass motorcycles.
vijay went through four years of being told what to do while gaining a degree for mass communication at carleton university in ottawa, canada. he returned home to jaipur in 2009.
after a lot of thought and convincing of family and himself that his custom motorcycle building dreams were worth a serious shot, he set up a garage in jaipur and built his first bike, “the original gangster.” that’s the bike you see here. a very badass enfield. yeah.
the bike made its debut at the new delhi auto expo 2010. after receiving a positive response, vijay and his fledgling company called rajputana started taking orders to build motorcycles for customers.
cha-ching!
vijay haas told me that the original gangster build consisted of:
1. a 350cc royal enfield engine
2. internal throttle assembly
3. concealed wiring to give the bike “that clean look”
4. jockey shift (i prefer calling it the suicide shift but who’s gonna argue?)
5. rajputana milled their own hubs, sprocket and suspension blocks
6. everything else is “o.g.” apart from the engine and tires
that means it’s a 100% custom motorbike.
here is a pic of all the mad indian mofos who had a part it it:
it’s a really nice enfield. see the bike on the right? see more photos here.
good job vijay and thank you for sharing your build with us. i’m sure i speak for all bikerMetric readers when i say we wish rajputana custom motorcycles the best and are looking forward to your next machine.
